Index of Breath

Is there a way to create art from typography? In 2021, I was 1 of 5 in Australian designers who won the International Society of Typographic Designers award. The brief? To take a publication and ‘put it in order’. I chose James Nestor’s novel Breath, visualising the unconscious rhythms of our 25,000 daily breaths. Using handmade prints from mushrooms, foils, sponges, and other materials, I created a design system to represent aspects of our biological functions - e.g. blood veins, air particles and lungs.
